Acadia National Park

East Blue Hill, ME

The first time I read about Acadia National Park was in an issue of Gourmet magazine, many years ago. The rocky coast intrigued me and it was on my list of places to visit. I love a sandy beach with lots of sun, but I no less love a quiet, foggy or rainy day at a rocky beach. We had both.

We arrived in Blue Hill in the middle of a rain storm and late at night. The next morning, the rain had momentaraly stopped but the fog was hanging low. We walked out to the car, and I took a deep breath of sea air- one of my favorite smells.

I must have lived near the sea in a past life. Nothing else can explain why I'm always wanting to go there, and why I have an obssesion with photographing boats.

We were lucky to have a sunny day in Acadia after a day spent in the fog. We were only sad that we weren't able to spend more time on the island. I'm sure we will return.
