Our trip to Madeira 2 weeks ago was not at all that what we had planned on. After the big move, we were looking forward to a week of sun, warmth, relaxation and some nice hikes. Well, that isn't what happened at all. We were to leave on February 18, but due to strong winds in Madeira our flight was delayed for 24 hours. On the 19th we were allowed to fly and arrived on perfect and sunny evening. Little did we know that that would pretty much be all the sun we were to see for a whole week. During the night strong winds and rain arrived and resulted in the heavy flooding many of you saw in the news. We took some pictures of the destruction but since we were luckily not in Funchal at the time, these pictures will give you a better idea of what happened.

We didn't do much hiking at all during the week, but rather drove around in the car. We saw quite a bit of the island, despite the rain and fog. We did have a little bit of sun, but not a lot. Following is a very small collection pictures. I actually ended up taking around 300 pictures, many of them are pictures of flowers.
