Winter has come

Yesterday I woke up to a blanket of snow, this morning it was hoarfrost. And then the sun came out. In the early morning while the light was still soft, I walked out with my camera to capture the fields and the beautiful flora.

I always look forward to hoarfrost. It seems to me that it accentuates the lines of things it clings to: the veins in leaves, the petals of lingering flowers, tree bark, grass. It also makes everything glisten in the sun, like millions of little diamonds.

Wow…so beautiful! I can't begin to imagine it since I've never seen anything like that before. I love the pinecone and the roses crusted with a sugar sprinkling! But it does look cold!!! Brrrrrr!

So lovely! We don't often get hoarfrost here, though I don't know why. Ryan found a patch while hiking a few weeks back and took some photos with a macro lens--it came out very interesting. Your shots are amazing (as always), and I just love the frozen roses!

Thank you- the roses are my favorite, too!
